Stronger, Longer, Faster, Farther

We train people for demanding mountain and long-distance trail adventures:  trail races, treks, hiking, backpacking, and other wilderness travel.

Strength:  propulsion and durability.

Stability:  balance, agility . . . mountain legs.

Stamina:  endurance to spare.

Body Comp:  more engine, less load.

All of the above.

At the same time.

That's what it takes to go stronger, longer, faster, farther.

That's what we do.

Your Goals, Your Program

Programs tailored to your fitness, goals, needs, and training resources.

We start where you are.

We work to reasonable milestones.

We go forward and upward gradually.

We adjust along the way whenever we need to.

Until you are going as strong, long, fast, and far as you need to.

With joy.

We're with you every step of the way.

Endurance Training

Mountains have no sympathy for fatigue.

Steep terrain, altitude, mileage  . . . endurance is non-negotiable.

Let's build stamina - the engine and energy systems you need to go stronger, longer, faster, and farther.

We'll start where you are - whether you are preparing for a race, a big trek, or a casual hiker with an eye on  tougher trails.

Little secret:  Building the right kind of endurance can be fun (yes, fun) when you do it the right ways.

Epic hike or "A race" in your future?

Want to make "Difficult" trails not-so-difficult?

You're going to love that bigger engine.

Strength: Propulsion and Durability

Mountains punish weakness and fragility.

So let's get you stronger and more durable.

No experience necessary.

We'll design your strength training to use what you have - a gym, home equipment, your backpack, or your own bodyweight.

We'll find the best strength exercises for your goals, needs, anatomy, and resources.

Training that makes you, not breaks you.

We'll start simple and easy.

From there, we gradually build the chassis and propulsion you need to go stronger, longer, faster, and farther.

Integrated, Progressive Training

It is not about "epic workouts," "no pain, no gain," expensive supplements, or fancy equipment.

It is about doable, consistent, progressive training.

Training all the specific physical capacities you need to move stronger, longer, faster, and farther.

Making the most of the time and resources you have.

Making strength and endurance come together, not conflict.

Training that flexes and adjusts to keep you on track when life interrupts the plan.

It is about not getting injured or burned out.

The smart way, not the hard way.

One step at a time.

Body Composition and Nutrition

We can't out train a bad diet.

Sound nutrition and healthy body composition are critical to training and performance.

If you need and want it, we'll dial in healthy dietary habits, properly fueled training and recovery, and a  body composition that fits your goals.

Normal foods.

Simple practices.

You'll learn how to eat and recover like a better mountain and trail athlete - like You 2.0.

Training Worth the Cost

Nature reserves its most special places for the fit.

Great training should not be reserved for the wealthy.

Our initial assessment and outline of what we think your program should look like is free.

You decide whether we're a good fit.

No long term commitments, no subscription, no hassles.

Programming is about $100 per month - including weekly monitoring and adjustment to keep you on track.

You're going to need to learn some stuff to execute your  program.  In-person or video coaching and consultations cost about $30 per hour.  We'll recommend only what we think you need to succeed.

We want to deliver the kind of value and relationship that brings you back to us for your next big race or adventure.

Meet Your Coach

Jim Hooper has coached strength and conditioning at West Point (football and gymnastics), in the U.S. Army (combat arms soldiers), at Regis Jesuit High School (wrestlers), for his USA Weighlifting team (Olympic weightlifters), and for many non-competitive athletes who simply wanted to improve their strength, endurance, and body composition.  He is a member of the National Strength & Conditioning Association (NSCA) and has earned its Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) credential, the leading certification in the field (recertifying June 2026).  He has  completed Level 1 and 2 weightlifting coaching programs at the U.S. Olympic Training Center.

A lifelong student and practitioner of the science and methods of strength and endurance training, Jim now lives and trains in the shadow of our company's namesake mountain Tava Kaa-vi ("the Sun Mountain"), aka Pikes's Peak.

He is a graduate of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point (B.S. 1984) and the University of Michigan Law School (J.D., magna cum laude, 1992).

His  own Next Big Things are the Great Divide Ultra in Colorado and the Annapurna Circuit in the Himalaya.

He'd love to hear about yours!
